ATMs in Da Nang: where to withdraw dong with a foreign card
Where to withdraw dong with a foreign card in Da Nang: ATMs at BIDV, Vietcombank and Sacombank branches, the airport ATM, Mir and VRB, why a card may not work, the fee on screen and a swallowed card.
The easiest way to get dong from a foreign card in Da Nang is an ATM at a bank branch. BIDV at 90 Nguyễn Chí Thanh has one at the entrance, Vietcombank at 140–142 Lê Lợi has one inside the building by the door, and Sacombank on the Bạch Đằng riverfront has one next to the branch. All banks with addresses are in the banks section. The ATM shows its own fee on screen before you confirm. Your own bank's fee and your card limit are for your bank to tell you.

Where can I withdraw cash in Da Nang?
| Bank | Where | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| BIDV | 90 Nguyễn Chí Thanh, Hải Châu | ATM at the entrance; branch opens at 7:30 |
| Vietcombank | 140–142 Lê Lợi, Hải Châu | ATM inside the building by the entrance; branch opens at 8:00 |
| Sacombank | 130A–132 Bạch Đằng, Hải Châu, riverfront | ATM next to the branch; opens at 7:30 |
For Techcombank (304–306 Nguyễn Văn Linh), VIB (208–212 Nguyễn Văn Linh) and VPBank (112 Phan Châu Trinh) are central too, but for cash the first three are easier: the ATM is right at the entrance. Every bank with its address is in the banks section.
Which ATMs take foreign cards?
A Visa or Mastercard logo on the machine usually means it accepts those cards. Whether your particular card works depends on your bank and the country that issued it, and that is settled by your bank, not by Da Nang. Before you travel, ask your bank whether withdrawals abroad are switched on, and carry a second card on a different network.
How much can I withdraw at once?
Every ATM and every card has its own limit. The ATM shows it on screen: ask for more and it refuses or offers a smaller amount. The card limit is set by your bank, so check it in the app. For a large sum, withdraw over several visits on different days, or bring some cash.
What will the withdrawal cost?
There are two fees. The ATM charges one and shows it on screen before you confirm; if you don't like it, press cancel and try another machine. The bank that issued your card charges the other. Look for it in your card's tariff, in the line about cash withdrawals at other banks' ATMs abroad.
If the ATM offers to charge you in your card's currency "at its rate", choose dong. Then your own bank does the conversion, not the machine.
What if the ATM keeps my card?
Don't walk away. Photograph the machine: it shows the bank's name and a phone number. Call, or go into the branch with your passport on a weekday while it's open. BIDV, Sacombank and VPBank branches open at 7:30, Techcombank at 7:45, Vietcombank and VIB at 8:00 (call to check closing time and lunch break). Then message your own bank straight away: if money was debited but no cash came out, they need your claim. Keep the receipt. Vietcombank's hotline is 1900 54 54 13.
Are there ATMs at Da Nang airport?
Yes, in Terminal 1: ATMs stand in the arrivals hall on the ground floor, in the public area, and in the check-in area on the second floor. Currency exchange counters are in the arrivals hall of international Terminal 2 (ground floor) and in its departures area (second floor), and in the arrivals hall of Terminal 1. If you land at Terminal 2, bring a little dong in advance or walk over to Terminal 1: a covered walkway links the two. How to exchange cash legally is in where to exchange money in Da Nang and the currency exchange section.
How do I stay safe at an ATM?
Withdraw in daylight and at a branch: if something goes wrong, people are around and the bank is easy to find. Cover the keypad when you type your PIN and refuse "help" from strangers. Count the cash and take your card and receipt before you step away. Break large notes at a supermarket or cafe: a market stall may not have change for one.
Does a Russian Mir card work in Da Nang?
Try Mir only at VRB ATMs — the Vietnam–Russia joint bank: VRB and NSPK announced cash withdrawals with Mir at VRB ATMs on 29 October 2019. Whether it works for you today, only the bank can say for sure. In Da Nang VRB has a branch office in Hải Châu at 160 Lê Duẩn (since 21 September 2026): phone 0236 3745 666, free hotline 1800 6656. Ask by phone before your trip whether there is an ATM there. Don't rely on Mir alone: bring a Visa or Mastercard from another country and some cash.
Why doesn't my card work at an ATM in Vietnam?
Most often the problem is the card itself. Russian-issued Visa and Mastercard cards have not worked abroad since March 2022: Visa announced then that transactions on cards issued in Russia would stop working outside the country. If your card was issued elsewhere, check in your bank's app that foreign transactions are switched on and that your limit is enough, then try another ATM. If that doesn't help, bring cash and exchange it at a bank or a licensed agent, as in where to exchange money in Da Nang.
ATM or currency exchange?
Small amounts as you go: an ATM is easier. Carrying cash: exchange it with a licensed agent or at a bank branch. Before you queue at the Sacombank branch on the riverfront, ask staff whether they're exchanging dollars today.

Insert the card, choose a language, enter your PIN, press "Withdrawal" and the amount. Before you confirm, read the ATM's fee on screen: if you don't like it, cancel and go to another machine.
