Phu Quoc Prison Historical Site (Coconut Tree Prison)
The former "Coconut Tree" prisoner-of-war camp in An Thoi, in the south of the island: the French opened it in 1946, and it closed after the 1973 Paris Peace Accords. Today there are restored barracks, models and a museum; some exhibits are hard viewing for children. Entry is free; allow 1–2 hours. Open 8 am to 5 pm with a midday break — sources give different break times. According to Mia, it has been a national monument since 1993.
