How to choose a tour agency in Da Nang and check its licence

How to check a Da Nang tour agency's licence in the government register, international vs domestic licences, what to ask before paying and where to complain.

Book Da Nang tours through an agency holding an international travel licence: under Vietnam's tourism law, those are the firms allowed to serve foreign visitors. Checking takes a minute. Ask for the licence number and look it up in the government register at quanlyluhanh.vn. Da Nang agencies' numbers start with 48, and an international licence ends in "LHQT". Before paying, ask for the programme in writing and find out what happens if the tour is cancelled because of weather.

Three more firms, Biển Ngọc, GreenTour and Đà Nẵng Xanh, are in the Da Nang tours and travel agencies section. Where a listing shows no licence, ask the agency for the number and look it up in the register.

How do I check a travel agency's licence?

1. Ask for the licence number. It looks like this: 48-392/2023/CDLQGVN-GP LHQT. 2. Open the register at quanlyluhanh.vn, run by the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, use the "Tìm doanh nghiệp" tab and enter the number or the company name. 3. Compare the name, address and licence type.

Article 30 of the Law on Tourism 09/2017/QH14 sets two types. A domestic agency serves domestic tourists. An international one serves foreign visitors coming to Vietnam and may also run domestic tours. If the number is not in the register, or the company has a different name, go elsewhere.

How do I check a tour guide?

A guide should carry a tour guide card (thẻ hướng dẫn viên), worn visibly during the tour. The same national authority runs a guide database at huongdanvien.vn. Ask to see the card at the start of the trip. If the guide will not show one, or says the driver has it, walk away or ask the agency.

What do standard tours from Da Nang include?

Tours from Da Nang usually go to six places. Each agency decides the stops and order, so get the programme in writing.

  • Ba Na Hills is a theme park on a mountain 25-30 km from the centre, 45-60 minutes to the lower cable car. How to get there.
  • Marble Mountains are 8-9 km south of the centre; allow 2-3 hours. Guide.
  • Hoi An is 30 km south, 45-60 minutes by car. Da Nang to Hoi An.
  • My Son is a Cham temple complex about 68 km from Da Nang. My Son.
  • Hue is about 100 km away, around two hours by car. Da Nang to Hue.
  • Son Tra and the Lady Buddha are 10 km from the centre. Son Tra Peninsula.

You can reach Hoi An and Son Tra on your own. My Son and Hue are harder without a car. An agency earns its fee where time and transport matter.

What happens to a tour in a storm?

When a storm is declared in Da Nang, sea trips are cancelled, and that is an official decision, not the agency's whim. For example, in September 2020, during typhoon No. 5, the Da Nang City Border Guard Command banned vessels from going to sea (SGGP, 16 Sep 2020). The page does not mention tourist boats specifically, so ask the agency who decides on cancellation, when you will be told, and whether you get a refund or a new date.

What should I ask before paying?

  • What is included: hotel pickup, entrance tickets, lunch, guide, insurance.
  • Which language the guide speaks. If you need English or Russian, get it confirmed in writing.
  • Group size, departure time and return time.
  • Cancellation and refund terms, both for bad weather and if you change your mind.
  • The name and licence number of the company that actually runs the tour, if a hotel or a reseller sells it.

Ask for the programme and terms by message or email and keep your receipt. Insurance should be stated plainly: "included" or "not included".

Where do I complain about a tour agency?

Call the Da Nang Tourist Support Centre. It takes visitors' complaints and passes them to the competent authorities. The short number *8899 is posted on signs at the airport, Song Hoai square and My Son (Bao Van hoa, 24 Dec 2025). Keep your receipt, messages and a photo of the programme.
