Da Nang airport to the city: taxi, Grab, bus

Da Nang airport is practically in town: 4–5 km and 5–10 minutes by car to the centre, about 30 km to Hoi An. Where the taxi rank and Grab pickup are, which buses go to the city and Hoi An, and when they stop running.

Da Nang airport sits almost inside the city: the centre is 4–5 km away, 5–10 minutes by car. The easy option is a taxi from the rank outside arrivals or a Grab — both run around the clock. In the daytime you can take a bus: routes 12 and 06 go into town (5:30 am–7 pm), and the Hai Van bus goes to Hoi An (7:30 am–4 pm). Hoi An is about 30 km away, 45–60 minutes by car.

Where is the taxi rank at Da Nang airport?

There is one taxi rank for both terminals. Walk straight out of arrivals or look for pillar 3 — taxis wait in the second lane. Airport staff stand at the rank to call a car and tell you the fare. A fare chart by destination hangs at pillar 2. The airport asks passengers to use only branded taxis from licensed companies and to ignore anyone touting rides inside the terminal.

Do you need cash for the taxi?

Yes, carry some dong. According to the airport, only some taxi firms take Visa and Mastercard — Tien Sa and VinaSun, for example. An airport entry fee is sometimes added to the meter; some companies include it, others don't. ATMs are in the Terminal 1 arrivals hall and currency exchange counters are in international arrivals. Where do you meet your Grab at Da Nang airport?

At the international terminal (T2), leave arrivals, find pillar 3 and follow the signs to the ride-hailing pickup in front of the glass building in the car park. Grab uses two lanes there, Lane 1 and Lane 2. At the domestic terminal (T1), cars pick up right outside arrivals. Pick the correct terminal in the app and check the plate before you get in. GrabBike only works if all you have is a backpack.

Which bus goes from the airport into Da Nang?

Two Danabus city routes. Bus 12 runs through the centre along Nguyen Van Linh, Dien Bien Phu, Le Duan and Le Loi, then north to Xuan Dieu. Bus 06 crosses the Han River on the Dragon Bridge and follows the coast down Vo Nguyen Giap and Truong Sa to FPT City. Both run daily from 5:30 am to 7 pm, with a 5 to 30 minute wait. The stop is at pillar 2 at T1 and pillars 7 and 8 at T2.

How do you get from Da Nang airport to Hoi An?

Taxi or Grab is simplest: about 30 km, 45–60 minutes, longer in the evening rush. The Hai Van bus also goes direct: from the airport along the coast road (Vo Nguyen Giap, Truong Sa) to Hoi An, ending at the Cua Dai car park. It runs 7:30 am–4 pm from the same stops as the city buses. The last stop is not the Old Town, so check on a map how far your hotel is from it. It is the only Hoi An bus on the airport’s own list.

Since July 2025 Hoi An has been part of Da Nang city (Quang Nam province was merged into Da Nang), so addresses now read phuong Hoi An, TP. Da Nang.

Landing at night — what then?

City buses stop at 7 pm and the Hai Van bus at 4 pm. That leaves the taxi rank, which serves every flight around the clock, and Grab. If your phone has no data yet, head to the rank at pillar 3 — staff will help. You can buy a SIM card in the baggage claim hall.

All Da Nang transport companies will be listed under taxis and transfers.

Which taxi apps work in Da Nang besides Grab?

Besides Grab, Green SM (formerly Xanh SM), Be and Maxim work in Da Nang. Install two apps before you land: if one finds no car, book in the other. Which one suits what, and whom to call without data, is in Taxis in Da Nang: which apps to install and what to do without data.
