How to get a taxi in Da Nang: from the airport, Grab, Green SM — which app to install
How to take a taxi from Da Nang airport, which app to install (Grab, Green SM, Maxim, Be), how to pay, which numbers to call without data and how not to overpay.
In Da Nang the easy way to get a taxi is an app. Install Grab and Green SM (formerly Xanh SM) before you fly: you see the fare before you book, and you never have to explain the address to the driver. Maxim also works in Da Nang, and Be is a good backup. Every service and app with contacts is in the taxis and apps: addresses and contacts section. No mobile data yet? Call the Mai Linh, Tiên Sa or Vinasun dispatch line — numbers below — and only get into a car with a meter.

How do I get from Da Nang airport by taxi?
Da Nang airport is 4–5 km from the centre, 5–10 minutes by taxi or Grab. There is one taxi rank for both terminals, open 24 hours: after arrivals, look for pillar 3 — cars wait in the second lane, and airport staff will help you get one. Grab and Green SM (formerly Xanh SM) can be booked straight from arrivals: at the international terminal the pick-up is in front of the glass building in the car park, at the domestic terminal it is outside arrivals.
A fare chart by destination is posted at pillar 2. An airport access fee is sometimes added to the meter — ask the driver before you set off. Green SM's per-km tariff is published on the company's Da Nang page; for Mai Linh, Tiên Sa and Vinasun, ask the dispatcher for the fare. Prices change, so none are quoted here.
Every option, buses and the road to Hoi An included, is in our guide Da Nang airport to the city and Hoi An.
Which taxi app should I install in Da Nang?
| App | What you can book | Why it's useful |
|---|---|---|
| Grab | 4- or 7-seat car, motorbike | fare shown upfront; you can book an airport ride in advance |
| Green SM (formerly Xanh SM) | VinFast electric car | besides the app there's a hotline, 1555 (the old 1900 2088 number was switched off on 1 June 2026), and you can flag one down |
| Maxim | taxi | app in English, Vietnamese and Russian; office in Da Nang |
| Be | motorbike, car, taxi | Vietnamese app, handy when the others can't find a car |
Install two apps from the start. If one can't find you a car, switch to the other.
How do I pay, and do I need a Vietnamese number?
| App | Cash | Card | Vietnamese number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Green SM (formerly Xanh SM) | yes | yes: bank card, plus MoMo and ZaloPay wallets | if the code doesn't arrive, sign up with a Vietnamese SIM |
| Grab | yes | yes: add a Visa or Mastercard in the app | not needed: sign up with a foreign number, as long as the SMS code arrives |
| Maxim | check in the app | check in the app | check when you sign up |
| Be | check in the app | check in the app | check when you sign up |
For Maxim and Be, open the "Payment" section in the app before your first ride. In a regular taxi, cards are not accepted everywhere: Vinasun in Da Nang takes Visa and Mastercard, and the airport says Tiên Sa takes cards too. In other cars keep small notes in dong: drivers often have no change for big ones.
Which taxis work across Vietnam?
Grab and Green SM are nationwide apps: Green SM's 1555 hotline answers around the clock across the country, and with Grab the same app works in other cities too. Mai Linh has a national number, 1055. Vinasun runs in Da Nang and other cities, and Be is a Vietnamese app with its city list on be.com.vn. In a small town, check in advance that the service you want operates there.
Does Grab work in Da Nang?
Yes. In Da Nang, Grab offers GrabCar (4 seats), GrabCar 7 and GrabBike, both in town and at the airport. You can sign up with a foreign number as long as it can receive the SMS code. You can pay in cash or by card; some foreign cards get declined, so keep some dong on you. The in-app chat translates automatically: you type in English, the driver reads Vietnamese.
How do I get a Green SM in Da Nang?
Green SM is a taxi service running VinFast electric cars, in Da Nang since 16 June 2023. There are three ways to get one: the Green SM app, the hotline 1555, or simply waving down a green car in the street. You can pay in cash, by card or with MoMo and ZaloPay. Da Nang airport's website still lists the old 1900 2088 number.
Is Maxim available in Da Nang?
Yes. Da Nang is one of Maxim's cities on taximaxim.com, and you can book a ride on the site or in the app, in English as well as Russian. The Da Nang office is at 194 Lê Đình Lý, Hải Châu, open Mon–Sat 8:00–18:00, email danang@taximaxim.com. The office is only for questions to the company — rides are booked in the app.
What if I have no mobile data?
The apps need mobile data. You can buy a SIM right at the airport — see our guide SIM card in Da Nang.
Until then, call a taxi company:
- Mai Linh — 0236 356 5656, nationwide 1055;
- Tiên Sa — 0236 379 7979;
- Vinasun — 0236 368 6868, dispatch runs 24/7;
- Green SM — 1555.
The airport website lists three more: Hai Van Taxi (0236 393 9393), Datranco Taxi (0236 383 8383) and Danang Taxi (0236 363 6363).
If you hail a taxi in the street, only get into a company car with a logo and a number on the side, and check that the meter is on from the start.
How much does a taxi cost in Da Nang?
The app shows the exact fare before you book, and in a regular taxi the meter does. The price depends on distance, time of day and demand. Green SM's tariff is published on the company's Da Nang page; for Mai Linh, Tiên Sa or Vinasun, ask a dispatcher on the numbers above. Prices change, so none are quoted here.
How do I avoid overpaying?
- Check the fare in the app before booking, and compare two apps.
- Get into a street taxi only if it is a company car with a logo and a number on the side, and the meter is on from the start. With no meter, agree the price before you get in.
- Don't pay in advance: you pay at the end of the ride.
- Don't go with people who walk up to you at the airport or your hotel offering a "taxi".
- Check the plate: it should match the one shown in the app.
- Show the address on a map or in Vietnamese, as written in Google Maps.
- At the airport, the fare chart by destination is posted at pillar 2.
Da Nang's taxi apps and taxi companies are listed in the taxi apps section.
