Ao dai and outfit hire in Nha Trang

Shops in Nha Trang that hire out ao dai and other outfits: the traditional ao dai, wedding and ceremonial sets, costumes for photo shoots and graduations. This is first of all a local market — weddings, engagements, the bưng quả procession, graduation days — and a visitor is served like any neighbour, provided they come in advance. Listings give the address, phone and opening hours. We publish no prices: they depend on the set, the hire period and whether it needs altering to fit.

Frequently asked questions

What is an ao dai, and why hire one?

The ao dai is a long Vietnamese dress, split at the sides and worn over loose trousers; there is a version for men too. For a wedding, an engagement or a graduation people rarely buy one — the outfit is needed once, and it has to fit. Hence a whole hire trade that visitors seldom notice.

Can a visitor hire one for a single day?

Yes, these shops take any customer. Come a day or two ahead rather than on the morning of the shoot: almost every set needs altering, and that is not a ten-minute job. Some shops state that they deliver or fit on location — worth asking first.

What to settle before the fitting

Four things: size and alteration, and whether it is included; the hire period — a day, an evening, or until the next morning; the deposit, how much and in what form; and what counts as damage to the set. Locals know all of this by heart; a visitor finds out on the spot unless they ask.

Does hire include a photographer or hair styling?

Usually not. Hire means the clothes. Some shops combine hire with wedding photography, and then it is a separate service at a separate price. Do not assume a photographer is included until someone says so.

Why are there no prices in the listings?

Hire costs depend on the set, the period, the alteration and the season — wedding months are different. A figure copied from a travel round-up is out of date within a month, and people budget from it. Ask at the shop.
