Surfing in Nha Trang
Surf schools in and around Nha Trang: lessons from scratch, sessions for those who already stand up, board hire, and at some places paddleboards and kitesurfing too. Listings show contacts, the location and the languages taught where these are confirmed. Two things to know before you travel: the waves here are seasonal, and several schools have no fixed address — they move with the swell, so message them first.

Frequently asked questions
Is there actually surf in Nha Trang?
Yes, but not in the city itself and not all year. The waves are caught mainly at Bãi Dài, some twenty kilometres south towards Cam Ranh airport, and the season runs roughly October to April. In summer the sea is flat: some schools stop working their main spot or move elsewhere. "Is there surf here" is one of the most common searches on this subject, and that is the honest answer.
Why do some schools have no address?
Because they work from the beach rather than from premises. One school states it plainly on its own maps listing: from April through September we move with the waves and do not operate at the main pin, so contact us before visiting. We do not invent an address where there is none: the listing carries what is confirmed and says that the meeting point is agreed when you book.
What does a beginner need to bring?
Nothing of your own. The board and the instructor are provided; you do need to be able to swim. Say when booking that it is your first time, and ask how many people there will be per instructor — that question matters more than the price. Ask about transfer too: the spot is a drive away and getting there independently is its own problem.
What language are lessons taught in?
It varies. Some schools run their sites in Russian, some in English, one has a Korean version. A listing names a language only where the school states it itself; no mention means we have not confirmed it, not that it is unavailable.
What about paddleboards and kitesurfing?
Paddleboards are offered by several of the same schools, so we do not split them into a category of their own. Kitesurfing is different: Nha Trang itself has almost no permanent kite schools — the real kite region is Phan Rang, about a hundred kilometres away. If kiting is what you want, ask where the lessons actually take place; you may be driven there.
Why are there no prices in the listings?
The cost of a lesson depends on the format — group, pair, private — on its length, and on whether transfer and filming are included. Schools publish prices on their own sites and change them; copying those figures into a directory means being wrong sooner or later. Ask when you book.
