Is Phu Quoc in Kien Giang or An Giang?

Phu Quoc is a special zone (đặc khu Phú Quốc) in An Giang province. National Assembly Resolution 202/2025/QH15 of 12 June 2025 (Art. 1, cl. 23) merged Kien Giang and An Giang into one province called An Giang, with the new authorities working from 1 July 2025. Resolution 1654/NQ-UBTVQH15 of the National Assembly Standing Committee of 16 June 2025 (Art. 1, cl. 95) combined Duong Dong and An Thoi wards and six island communes into the special zone of Phu Quoc. Maps and tickets still sometimes say "Kien Giang".

Which flights land at Phu Quoc airport (PQC)?

Domestic flights to Phu Quoc International Airport come from Hanoi (Noi Bai), Ho Chi Minh City (Tan Son Nhat), Nha Trang (Cam Ranh) and Da Nang. That list comes from a Sun Paradise Land guide of 27 October 2025. Timetables and airlines change every season, so check flights on the airline's site on the day you buy.

Are there direct flights to Phu Quoc from Russia?

Yes: according to VOV (23 August 2026), Aeroflot starts a scheduled Moscow (SVO) to Phu Quoc (PQC) flight from 15 October, twice a week, on a wide-body aircraft. Charter programmes from Russia and CIS countries have also been running since late September, sold by FUN&SUN, PEGAS Touristik, Coral Travel, Anex and Intourist. VOV does not name the charter departure cities. Check the date and baggage with the airline or tour operator.

What other international flights go to Phu Quoc?

The Sun Paradise Land guide (27 October 2025) lists flights from Kuala Lumpur (AirAsia), Singapore (Scoot) and Seoul (Jin Air, Jeju Air), plus charters from Taiwan, Korea, Kazakhstan, Poland and Mongolia. Routes open and close quickly, so confirm the flight before you buy.

How far is it from the airport to Duong Dong and Sunset Town?

From Phu Quoc airport to the centre of Duong Dong it is about 10 km, with the airport south of the town (Sun Paradise Land, 27 October 2025). Sunset Town is 15-20 km from the airport, about 20-25 minutes by car, and 25-30 km from Duong Dong, 35-45 minutes depending on traffic (Sun Paradise Land, 12 August 2026). We found no separate figure for Bai Truong beach, so we do not give one: the beach runs along Duong Dong, and the distance is close to the road to the centre. From the airport people take a taxi, a ride app or VinBus.

How do I get to Phu Quoc by fast boat from Rach Gia and Ha Tien?

Fast boats leave two mainland piers: Ha Tien (port on Kim Du street) and Rach Gia (port on Nguyen Cong Tru street). Superdong takes about 1 h 15 min to 1 h 30 min from Ha Tien and about 2 h 10 min to 2 h 30 min from Rach Gia. VinWonders (19 July 2025) gives Phú Quốc Express about 1 h 10 min and 2 h 20 min. Superdong tickets are sold at online.superdong.com.vn and by phone from the official site.

What time do the boats to Phu Quoc leave?

The first boats leave early in the morning and the last in the early afternoon. In the timetable VinWonders published on 19 July 2025, Superdong leaves Ha Tien from 6:10 to 13:00 and Rach Gia from 7:00 to 13:10; Phú Quốc Express leaves Ha Tien from 6:00 to 13:20 and Rach Gia from 7:00 to 14:00. These tables show no evening sailings. Superdong's main page does not show a timetable (it opens when you book), so check exact times there or ask by phone.

Which port do the boats arrive at, and how do I reach Duong Dong?

The fast boats arrive at Bai Vong port (Cảng Bãi Vòng) on the east coast of the island. From there carrier shuttles take people to Duong Dong (VinWonders, 19 July 2025). There is also VinBus No. 20 from Bai Vong port to the T2 Grand World car park: per Green SM's guide of 17 February 2025 it runs 5:30 to 16:00 every 30-60 minutes. The timetable may have changed, so do not rely on the bus late in the evening.

Can I bring a car or motorbike to Phu Quoc?

The Thạnh Thới ferry from Ha Tien (port on Kim Du street) takes vehicles: per Mia.vn (5 February 2025), about 20 cars and 150 motorbikes per trip, about 3 hours on the water. Check departure times on the operator's site, thanhthoi.vn. The same guide is mixed about fast boats: it says they carry people only, and also that Superdong takes about 10 motorbikes a day if booked ahead. If you need a motorbike on the island, call the carrier before you buy a ticket. On the island you can also rent one: vehicle rental.

Do boats to Phu Quoc run in the southwest monsoon?

In bad weather the fast boats stop, sometimes without warning. On 13 July 2024, VietnamPlus reported, a stronger southwest monsoon halted the Rach Gia - Phu Quoc, Ha Tien - Phu Quoc and Rach Gia - Nam Du boats, pending a new notice from the port authority. In summer do not plan the boat for your last day before a flight home: leave a day in hand and check with the carrier before you go to the port.

Do I need a visa for Phu Quoc?

Foreigners may stay on Phu Quoc up to 30 days without a visa if they arrive on a direct international flight or connect through the transit area of another Vietnamese airport without passing the border. That is how vietnamtourism.com (12 October 2026) describes the conditions: a domestic flight to Phu Quoc (from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City) loses the right, the stay cannot be extended on the island, and travel to the mainland needs an ordinary visa. The island's exemption goes back to a 2013 government decision (VnEconomy, 30 December 2013). Check your nationality and the conditions with a consulate and your airline before flying.

How many days without a visa do Russians get?

Russian citizens can enter Vietnam without a visa for up to 45 days from the date of entry, anywhere in the country, not only on the island. This is Government Resolution 44/NQ-CP of 7 March 2025, valid from 15 March 2025 to 14 March 2028 as long as you meet the other entry rules. The «30 days on Phu Quoc only» scheme is usually not needed for Russians: it keeps you on the island. The period can be extended or changed, so check the current rule on the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry site before you buy a ticket.

Do I need to fill in the PAI form before flying to Phu Quoc?

Since 1 June 2026 Phu Quoc airport has asked foreign visitors to send their entry details in advance: passport, flight and where you will stay go into prearrival.immigration.gov.vn within 3 days before departure. After you submit you get a QR code to show at passport control. Vietnamese newspapers describe it as a pilot and ask passengers to fill it in (Thanh Nien, 28 May 2026; Dan Tri, 2 June 2026). Fill it in early, and before you fly check the site and your airline in case it has become compulsory. Use only that address.

How do I get around the island?

Grab (since 2021), the taxi fleets Mai Linh, Vinasun, Sasco, Nam Thắng and Sài Gòn Phú Quốc, and the electric taxi Green SM, formerly Xanh SM, operate on Phu Quoc (Mia.vn, 3 January 2026). Green SM can be booked in the app, by phone or hailed in the street. VinBus runs on the island: route 17 links the airport with Grand World and route 19 passes the airport junction (Green SM, 17 February 2025). It was free in 2025; travel guides say fares have been charged since 1 January 2026, but we found no official VinBus notice, so ask the driver how to pay and carry small notes. Better to book a taxi by app or the fleet's phone than to flag a car on the street: the route is clear from the start. Listings: transfers, taxis and ride apps.
