ATMs in Nha Trang: where to withdraw dong with a foreign card and avoid extra fees
24-hour ATMs at bank branches in central Nha Trang, which one reviewers in 2026 used without an ATM fee, what to do about the currency conversion offer on screen, and how not to lose your card on a weekend.
The easiest way to get dong with a foreign card in Nha Trang is an ATM at a bank branch. In the centre, 24-hour ATMs stand at VPBank, 26 Yersin; ACB, 80 Quang Trung; VietinBank on Hoàng Hoa Thám; and VRB, 159 Thống Nhất. The ATM shows its fee on screen before you confirm — check that, not the stickers. Your own bank may charge a separate fee.

How do I avoid extra fees?
There can be two fees: the ATM's and your card issuer's. The ATM shows its fee before it hands out cash — if you don't like it, press cancel and try the next one. Only your bank knows its own fee, so ask before you travel.
If the ATM offers to charge you in your home currency "at our rate", decline and choose dong. Your bank then does the conversion instead of the ATM, which is usually the better deal.
Take out more at once: every withdrawal is a separate fee.
Why use an ATM at a branch?
If an ATM keeps your card or doesn't dispense cash, you'll be dealing with the bank that owns it. Branches in Nha Trang open on weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm, with lunch from 11:30 to 1:30, and close at weekends. So withdraw on a weekday, at an ATM next to an open branch. ATMs in malls and on the street work too, but problems take longer to sort out.
Cover the keypad when you type your PIN, and don't accept help from strangers at the machine.
What if the ATM keeps my card?
Don't walk away straight away. Take a photo of the ATM — it shows the machine number and the bank's phone — then call that number or go into the branch with your passport. Message your own bank too: if money left your account but no cash came out, you need to file a claim. That's another reason to use a branch ATM on a weekday: at the weekend you'll get the card back on Monday at the earliest.
ATM or money changer?
If you need dong a little at a time and your card works, an ATM is easier. If you've brought cash, change it at a licensed agent or a bank — how to tell an agent from a street changer is in where to change money in Nha Trang. Staying for months and want to pay by card without fees? Then you need a local account: see opening a bank account in Vietnam.
ATMs mostly give out large notes. Break them at a supermarket or café: at a market or a small shop there may be no change.

Sources and checks
Addresses and 24-hour ATMs come from our banks section, checked against Google Maps and directories (VietinBank and VIB on 12 October 2026, VRB on 1 October, the rest between 29 September and 7 October). The VPBank ATM note comes from foreigners' Google Maps reviews in 2026, including Visa cards from Kazakh banks; the TPBank fee from a late-2025 review. Reviews describe visitors' experience, not bank terms. The general branch hours come from VietGid's owner (29 September 2026); some banks open at 7:30, and Techcombank's lunch break can run to 2 pm. The tips on conversion, PINs and retained cards are our own. We don't publish fees or limits: they change. Updated 12 October 2026.
