Hospital in Nha Trang for foreigners: where to go

Which hospital to go to in Nha Trang: the ambulance number, 24-hour emergency departments, insurance, what to bring and what to ask on admission.

The ambulance number in Vietnam is 115. For a foreigner in Nha Trang the easiest choice is a private hospital with a 24-hour emergency department; they are collected in the hospitals and clinics section. Vinmec, Tam Tri, Saigon Nha Trang and 22-12 all say on their own websites that emergency care runs 24 hours. Bring your passport and insurance policy; the rest gets sorted at the hospital.

For a step-by-step plan — where to go by day or at night and how not to lose your insurance refund — see Getting sick in Nha Trang.

Which hospital should you choose?

Where do I go if I need help right now?

The ambulance number in Vietnam is 115, but the line is answered in Vietnamese only (GOV.UK travel advice). It is better if hotel staff make the call. If you can travel, order Grab or Green SM to the emergency entrance and show the driver the Vietnamese address from the hospital page.

Which hospitals in Nha Trang have 24-hour emergency care?

Four private hospitals say on their own websites that they take patients around the clock, and the public provincial hospital shows 24 hours on Google Maps. The full list is in the hospitals and clinics section.

How is the public hospital different from the private ones?

Khanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital is the main public hospital of the province, at 19 Yersin in the centre. Google Maps (September 2026) shows its emergency department open 24 hours. Staff speak mostly Vietnamese, so keep a translation app ready. The Military Hospital 87 is also close to the centre; it treats civilians, but staff usually don't speak Russian or English.

Are there English- or Russian-speaking doctors in Nha Trang?

Vinmec Nha Trang says on its hospital page that it provides on-site interpreting in English, Chinese, Russian and Korean (Vinmec website). These are interpreters for patients, not a promise of a Russian-speaking doctor, so call 0258 3900 168 beforehand and ask whether an interpreter will be at your appointment. The websites of Tâm Trí, Saigon Nha Trang and 22-12 say nothing about languages, so phone and ask before you go. Keep a translation app, photos of your medicine packs and a list of your diagnoses on your phone; it speeds up admission a lot.

What should I bring to the hospital?

Your passport, insurance policy and the insurer's assistance phone number. The UK government advises insurance that covers local treatment and medical evacuation (GOV.UK). When you are discharged, ask for a discharge summary with the diagnosis and treatment, and keep every receipt: your insurer will ask for them if you claim the money back.

How does travel insurance work at the hospital?

There are two ways: the hospital bills your insurer directly (in Vietnamese, "bảo lãnh viện phí") or you pay yourself and claim later. Vinmec says it works with nearly 50 private and international insurers, Saigon Nha Trang shows partner insurers on its site, and Tâm Trí has a page with instructions. Whether direct billing works with your policy is a question for your insurer's assistance line, before the visit.

How much does it cost?

We don't quote prices: they depend on tests and treatment. On admission ask three things: is a deposit required, will the hospital accept your insurer's guarantee, and can you get an estimate in advance. None of the four private hospital websites mentions a deposit; for cost questions Vinmec points to its hotline, 0258 3900 168.

What if I'm bitten by a dog, poisoned, or hurt in a scooter crash?

Go to a 24-hour emergency department, any hospital from the list above. Saigon Nha Trang states that its emergency department handles accidents and poisoning. After an animal bite or scratch, WHO advises washing the wound with soap and water for at least 15 minutes and seeing a doctor (WHO, rabies). Vaccinations are given at the Pasteur Institute; phone them to ask about rabies shots.

What if I only need medicine?

Simple things like allergy, fever or pain are usually handled by a pharmacy, and antibiotics are not sold without a prescription. What to ask the pharmacist is covered in our guide to pharmacies in Nha Trang; addresses are in the pharmacies section.

FAQ

Which clinic in Nha Trang accepts foreigners? Foreigners are seen at the private hospitals with a 24-hour emergency department: Vinmec Nha Trang, Tâm Trí, Saigon Nha Trang and 22-12. Vinmec's hospital page lists on-site interpreters for English, Chinese, Russian and Korean; its phone is 0258 3900 168. All hospitals with addresses are in the hospitals and clinics section.

Is there an international hospital in Nha Trang? The closest thing is Vinmec Nha Trang on the seafront (42A Trần Phú): a private hospital of the Vinmec network with interpreters for four languages and direct billing with insurers (its site says "gần 50 đối tác bảo hiểm tư nhân và quốc tế", nearly 50 private and international insurance partners). Listing and phone: Vinmec Nha Trang.

Where should a tourist go if they get sick in Nha Trang? For severe pain, high fever, an injury or poisoning, go to a 24-hour emergency department from the table above or call 115. For something mild, start with a pharmacy; at night and at weekends, go to an emergency department. The full order of steps is in Getting sick in Nha Trang.

Does Vinmec Nha Trang accept tourists' insurance? The hospital page says Vinmec works with nearly 50 private and international insurers and offers direct billing ("bảo lãnh viện phí trực tiếp"). Whether your own policy is covered is for your insurer's assistance line or the Vinmec hotline, 0258 3900 168, to confirm — call before the visit.

What is the ambulance number in Nha Trang? 115. The line is in Vietnamese, so it's easier if hotel staff call.

Which Nha Trang hospital is open 24 hours? Vinmec, Tâm Trí, Saigon Nha Trang and 22-12 all state 24-hour emergency care on their websites. The provincial hospital on Yersin shows 24 hours on Google Maps.

Can I be treated on insurance without paying up front? It depends on your insurer and the hospital. Vinmec says it offers direct billing with partner insurers, but only your insurer's assistance line can confirm it for your policy.

Do I need an interpreter at the public hospital? Yes, keep a translation app handy: staff speak mostly Vietnamese.

What should I take to the hospital? Passport, policy, insurer's phone number, a list of your medicines. When leaving, ask for a discharge summary and keep receipts.

Are there Russian-speaking doctors? Vinmec Nha Trang mentions interpreters for Russian, English, Chinese and Korean, but interpreters are not a guarantee of a doctor who speaks your language. The other private hospitals' websites don't mention languages, so ask by phone before you go.

Where do I take a child at night? To one of the 24-hour emergency departments above. Children's clinics in the hospitals section have different hours, so phone first.
