Where to go with a child in Nha Trang on the first day?

Go to the Oceanography Museum at 1 Cầu Đá. It is open every day from 6:00 to 18:00, so you can see the aquariums in the morning before the heat. After 16:00 walk along Trần Phú seafront: sand, shallow water at the edge and cafes nearby. Between 11:00 and 15:00 stay in shade or indoors, as health agencies advise (see the safety block below). The table has the rest.

What to do with kids in Nha Trang when it rains?

Head to the Oceanography Museum: aquariums with more than 300 marine species and exhibition halls. Nearby at 10 Trần Phú is the small Yersin Museum: weekdays 7:30–11:30 and 14:00–17:00, Saturday mornings only, closed Sunday; it suits older kids better than toddlers. VinWonders has the Sea World aquarium, but some rides and the cable car depend on the weather. Rain is frequent in autumn and early winter, so have a backup ready (Nha Trang in November, in December).

Which beach is best for children?

With small children, use the city beach on Trần Phú and swim only where lifeguards are stationed, following their instructions. From October to December the sea is rough and swimming is sometimes banned; see our Nha Trang beaches guide. Bai Dai suits a half-day trip: the main section is shallow with lifeguards, while the wild stretches to the side are not for swimming. The sea is calmer from February to August. Never leave a child at the water without an adult watching.

Can children go in the mud baths?

Ask the staff at Tháp Bà about age and conditions before going: +84 258 383 5345 or 084 857 85 85. With toddlers or skin conditions, check with a paediatrician first. Places and directions are in mud baths in Nha Trang and the mud baths section.

Safety: sun, sea, jellyfish

The main rule: shade at midday and an adult beside the water. WHO advises limiting time in the midday sun, seeking shade, wearing covering clothes and a broad-brimmed hat, and using broad-spectrum sunscreen on skin that clothes do not cover. The UK NHS adds that babies under 6 months should be kept out of strong direct sun; use SPF 30 or higher on the face, ears, feet and backs of hands, and reapply every 2 hours and after swimming. WHO also notes that drowning risk rises when children are near water without an adult supervising.

If a jellyfish stings a child, the NHS advises rinsing with seawater (not fresh water), removing spines with tweezers, soaking in water as hot as the child can tolerate for at least 30 minutes, and getting help from a lifeguard or doctor quickly. Do not use ice, urine or a tight dressing. For trouble breathing, chest pain, seizures, vomiting or fainting, call an ambulance. Where to go in the city: if you get sick in Nha Trang.
