Nha Trang districts: centre, north, south and west — where to stay
Since July 2025 Nha Trang has four wards: Nha Trang (centre), Bắc Nha Trang (north), Nam Nha Trang (south) and Tây Nha Trang (west). What is near each, where the beach and markets are, where streets flooded in the rainy season, and how to read old names in rental ads.
For a one- or two-week stay, the centre is easiest — Nha Trang ward by the Trần Phú seafront: you can walk to the city beach, Dam Market, cafés and bars. Long-stayers often pick the north — Bắc Nha Trang across the Cái river, with its own beach along Phạm Văn Đồng, Vĩnh Hải market and the Po Nagar towers. The south (Nam Nha Trang) and west (Tây Nha Trang) are residential areas further from the sea; in November 2025 floodwater entered homes there.

What are Nha Trang’s districts called now?
Since 1 July 2025 Nha Trang has four wards instead of dozens of small ones (phường). Rental ads still use the old names — here is how they match up:

What is nearby if I stay in the centre?
Nha Trang ward is the Trần Phú seafront and the streets behind it. On foot: the city beach, Dam Market, the Nha Trang Center mall (20 Trần Phú), Long Son Pagoda and the cathedral. The tourist quarter has bars open until 2–3 am (bars and clubs): if you want quiet nights, look for a flat away from them. The southern part of the ward includes Vĩnh Nguyên with Cầu Đá port — speedboats to Hon Tam and VinWonders leave from there, and the Oceanography Museum is next door.
What is nearby if I stay in the north?
Bắc Nha Trang is across the bridges over the Cái river. Here you have the Po Nagar towers, the Hon Chong rocks, the beach along Phạm Văn Đồng and Vĩnh Hải market on 2/4 street, where people go for fresh seafood in the morning. Further north, at Đá Chồng, is Long Phú pier with boats to Monkey Island and Orchid Island. The centre is 7–10 minutes by Grab. In early December 2025, when the Cái river rose, families living by the river in Bắc Nha Trang were moved out — not by the sea, but if your street is near the river, ask the landlord.
What about the south and west?
Nam Nha Trang (Phước Hải, Phước Long, Vĩnh Trường) and Tây Nha Trang (Ngọc Hiệp, Phương Sài) are Vietnamese residential areas with few tourists and a ride to the sea. The road to Cam Ranh airport is closer from the south. On 19–20 November 2025, when the Cái river rose above the third alarm level, floodwater entered homes precisely in Tây Nha Trang and Nam Nha Trang. If you rent here for the rainy season (September–December), ask the landlord whether the street floods and check which floor the flat is on.
How do I choose a flat?
Visit in the evening: bar noise, neighbours’ karaoke and building work are invisible in the daytime. Ask whether the street flooded in November–December 2025. Where does Nha Trang flood? In November 2025 water entered homes in Tây Nha Trang and Nam Nha Trang; in December 2025 families by the river in Bắc Nha Trang were moved out. Those reports did not mention the Trần Phú seafront.
Where is it quieter? Away from the tourist quarter with its bars — in the north and the residential south. In the centre, streets with bars are loud until late.
Which area is closer to the airport? The south — the road to Cam Ranh runs through Nam Nha Trang.
